India Women Cricket team have won the Sri Lanka Womens Tri-Nation Series, 2025 after defeating Sri Lanka in the final on 11th of May 2025. Smrita Mandhana made a brilliant 116 to grab the Player of the match award.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the young opener Pratika Rawal and experienced Smriti Mandhana gave slow and steady start to the innings before Rawal getting out in the 15th over. For the 2nd wicket Smriti and Harleen Deol forged a partnership of 120 runs in 106 balls after which Smriti got out.
There were a few good partnerships in the middle order between Harleen, Harmanpreet and Jemimah Rodrigues which helped India to reach a decent total of 342 runs after 50 overs.
For Sri Lanka, opener Hasini Perera got out in the first over and thereafter they didn’t had any big partnership which cost them the series. They had a few good small partnerships in the middle but it was not long enough to take them through. Their captain Chamari Athapaththu was the lone batter who showed some fight in her 51 runs off 66 balls.
Sneh Rana was the leader of the pack for Indian bowling attack who scalped 4 wickets and gave away just 38 runs in 9.2 overs. Amanjot Kaur also took 3 wickets. India women won the match by 97 runs after bundling out Sri Lanka women at 245 in 48.2 overs. Smriti Mandhana and Sneh Rana were the players to watch out for in this series. While Smriti was declared Player of the Match, Rana was chosen as the Player of the series.
It was a brilliant display of batting, bowling and fielding throughout the tournament that helped India seal the series with just 1 defeat in the entire tournament at the hands of the host. In the last match vs South Africa, Jemimah Rodrigues’ career-best 123 was instrumental in India’s win that sent them to the tri-series final.
